Chamber Players International, founded in 1971, is an ensemble of
nationally and internationally renowned concert musicians many of whom
have won international competitions, record for major record labels and
who are on the faculties of our most important conservatories, musical
schools and universities. CPI gives between 30 to 35 concert events
annually and has developed a strong presence within the New York
Metropolitan community.
CPI maintains a variety of concert series including:
International Series, a series of chamber and chamber orchestra programs
at Molloy College and Unitarian Universalist Center, with guest artists
such as International Chamber Ensemble of Rome (Rome, Italy), St. Ivo
Piano Quartet (Rome, Italy), Chambre Ochestre Francais (Paris, France)
Quartet San Francisco and numerous soloists from around the world. Since
2002, these events have taken place in collaboration with consuls
general of Italy, Argentina and France, respectively.
Musical Cuisine, a champagne brunch and music series taking place at the
de Seversky Center, NY Institute of Technology in Old Westbury LI. This
series of six events features a wide variety of programs including guest
chamber orchestras, recital programs, and large-scale chamber ensemble
events.
Young Peoples' Programs, a concert series at the Friends Academy in
Oyster Bay, LI geared to children K-12, which features a series of
chamber ensemble concerts and programs highlighting our star performers.
Critics have consistently praised Chamber Players for its high quality
and imaginative programming. The Washington Post described the ensemble
as "one of New York's finest chamber ensembles". On the occasion of the
ensemble's New York City debut, the New York Times praised the group as
an ensemble of "star chamber music performers". Newsday has hailed the
group as "Long Island's premier ensemble" describing our programs as
"chamber music at its best".
Since its inception, CPI has received two national awards from the C.
Michael Paul Foundation and Chamber Music America; the ensemble
participated in a 50-day residency throughout Nassau and Suffolk
Counties and has received the Citibank Award of Excellence given to only
two arts organizations annually.
